What this calculator shows
Patients ask what a visit will cost them, and front desks need a careful, honest way to answer. This calculator builds a simple estimate from the allowed amount and the three moving parts of most plans: a copay, a deductible, and coinsurance after the deductible. Enter the allowed amount for the service, not your billed charge; allowed amounts come from your payer contract.
Read the disclaimer under the result before quoting anyone. This is an educational estimate built on a simplified order of operations, and real plans apply these pieces in different orders.
Reimbursement calculator
Patient Responsibility Calculator
A plain estimate of the patient share: copay, deductible, coinsurance.
How the calculation works
Simplified model: deductible applied = the smaller of the remaining deductible and the allowed amount. Coinsurance = (allowed - deductible applied) x coinsurance percentage. Patient estimate = copay + deductible applied + coinsurance. Plan estimate = allowed - patient estimate, floored at zero.
How to read your result
Actual responsibility depends on the patient's specific benefits, whether the deductible was already met, out-of-pocket maximums, how the payer sequences copay against deductible, and final claim adjudication. Verify benefits before quoting: that check is our eligibility verification service, and for therapy practices our guide to the good faith estimate explains the written-estimate rules that apply to self-pay patients.

Before you rely on the number
Results are estimates for educational and operational planning, built from the figures you enter. They are not guarantees of reimbursement, savings or recovery, and they do not replace a review of your own claims, contracts and remittances. Do not enter patient-identifiable or protected health information: this calculator runs in your browser and nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere.
FAQ
Calculator questions
Still have a question? Talk to our team about your billing workflow.
Can I quote this number to a patient as final?
No. Quote it as an estimate and say so. Final responsibility is set when the claim adjudicates against the patient's actual benefits on that date.
Why use the allowed amount instead of our charge?
Because patient responsibility is calculated from the allowed amount under your contract, not from the chargemaster price.
What if the patient has a secondary insurance?
Secondary coverage can pay part of the patient share. This estimate covers the primary plan only.

A free billing assessment reviews your actual denials, A/R and contracts, then gives you these numbers from your own data, in writing, before you decide anything.
